The Karakorams and the Hindu Kush of the Northern Areas of Pakistan has the most incredible mountain scenery in the world. Five mountains over 8000 m, 25 over 7500 m and almost 100 over 7000 m makes up the highest concentration of high peaks anywhere. Among these magnificent peaks we find the largest glaciers outside the polar regions. The main attraction of the Northern areas are climbing and trekking but the touring possibilities are excellent. The exciting 1300 km Karakoram Highway links Islamabad with Kashgar in China. The journey takes you through the high Himalays, over the spectacular Kunjerab pass (4730 m) to the Silk Road oasis of Kashgar in China's Xinjiang province. The route passes within a few km of  Nanga Parbat (8125 m) and  through the beautiful Hunza Valley surrounded spectacular peaks over 7000 m high.

The media have painted a brutal picture of Pakistan over the years but the Northern Areas and KKH  place are among the safest travel destinations of Asia. Western people going to Pakistan are usually met with warmth, generosity and hospitality by the Muslim people in the region. The scenery and the sheer diversity of the peoples, cultures and traditions make Pakistan a truly fascinating place to travel.

EcoExpeditions offer both trekking and tours in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. For trekking enthusiasts we have the classic K2 Base Camp trek with the Gondogoro La in addition to Hushe Valley and the Biafo - Hispar Traverse. For the really adventurous we have the Karakoram Traverse from Hushe Village to Hunza Valley - a 35 day adventure through the finest mountain scenery on the planet! We can offer several tours including the 1300 km Karakoram Highway from Islamabad to the Silk Road oasis Kashgar in China.
