Simikot to Mount Kailash

An adventure trek from Nepal to Tibet's sacred peak .

Mount Kailash (6714 m) is regarded as the center of the universe by both Buddhists and Hindus and is one of the most important sites of pilgrimage in all of Asia. About 2000 km west of Lhasa on the northern side of the Himalayas this area is indeed very remote. We fly from Kathmandu to Simikot in the northwestern corner of Nepal. From Simikot we follow ancient trade routes to Tibet on a six day trek. From Taklakot we drive past the holy Lake Manasarovar to Darchen where we start the four day Mt. Kailash Circuit trek. The pilgrims believe that walking around the mountain will erase the sins of a lifetime and we will be followed by many pilgrims from all over Tibet.
