Langtang Valley

Stunning mountain scenery in an unspoiled region of Nepal

Langtang Lirung and Kyanjin Gompa                                   Yala Peak Base Camp

The high and isolated region of the Langtang valley is called "the valley of glaciers". The trek starts with a four hour drive from Kathmandu to the picturesque village Dhunche with great views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna II on the way. From Dhunche we spend four days hiking through this beautiful valley until we reach Kyanjin Gompa (3800 m). On the way we have great views of Langtang Lirung (7246 m) to the north, Gang Chhenpo (6388 m) and Naya Kangri (5846 m) to the south and Dorje Lakpa (6966 m) to the east. At Kyanjin Gompa we spend a couple of days exploring the area visiting several excellent viewpoints including Tsergo Ri (5033 m). We return to Chisopani in the Helambu region via the holy lakes of Gosainkund.

For a more challenging version of this trek we recommend crossing the Ganja La (5106 m) into Helambu. Good equipment and basic mountaineering experience is needed for this crossing.
