Everest Region
The Everest Region is located north-east of Kathmandu on the Tibetan border. Most trekkers reach the area after a 45 min. flight from Kathmandu to Lukla where the trek starts. Some of the most spectacular trekking in the world are found within the Sagarmatha National Park. In addition to Everest (8848 m) there are three other 8000 m peaks (Lhotse (8501 m), Makalu (8475 m) and Cho Oyu (8153 m)) in the region and the Sagarmatha National Park also have a very rich flora and fauna. Most of the trekking is on good paths and all lodging can be in comfortable tea-houses. You will meet the friendly Sherpa people and travel through many picturesque villages and monasteries. EcoExpeditions offers two versions of the classic Everest trek to Kala Pattar (5600 m) and Everest Base Camp; one starting in Jiri and the other starting in Lukla. In addition we have a short and easy trek in the region around Namche Bazaar where you have the opportunity to see three 8000 m peaks (Everest, Lhotse and Cho Oyu). "Ultimate Everest" is our most challenging trek in the Everest Region and includes Gokyo Lakes, Gokyo Ri (5300 m) and a crossing of Cho La (5420 m) before joining the route to Everest BC and Kala Pattar at Lobuche.
