The
Ngorongoro crater is an old collapsed volcano of about 16-19 km diameter.
The place has been declared “World Heritage Site” by UNESCO and is a
fantastic place to view wildlife. The hotels are located on the crater rim
around 2200 m altitude with the crater floor about 600 m lower. There are
an estimated 20 000 animals in the crater including lions, leopards and
black rhino.
