Machame
Route
This the most scenic
route and the gradual ascent gives more time for acclimatization. You
start west of the Umbwe route and follows the south circuit path to the
Mweka route which is used for the final push to the summit. There are no huts on route so you have to camp. This climb is
usually done in six days but our program includes one extra day for
acclimatization at Barranco hut (3600 m). This extra day greatly increases
the chances of reaching the summit and also makes the climb a more
enjoyable experience. The decent is along the Mweka route.

| 1 | Fly from home country to Kilimanjaro airport. Overnight in Moshi. |
| 2 | Drive to Machame Gate (1800 m). Hike to Machame Hut (3000 m). |
| 3 | Machame Hut to Shira Hut (3840 m). |
| 4 | Shira Hut to Barranco Hut (3950 m). |

Rest and acclimatization day at Barranco. Daytrip up
to Arrow Glacier Hut (4800 m) or up the Barranco Wall towards the Heim
Glacier. |
| 6 | Barranco Hut to Barafu Hut (4600 m). |
| 7 | Summit day! Start early around 1 AM to reach the crater rim at Stella Point (5700 m) before sunrise. You continue up to Uhuru Peak (5896 m) in about 1 hour. Return to down the Mweka route to Mweka Hut (3100 m). |
| 8 | Mweka Hut to Mweka Village (1500 m). Drive back to hotel in Moshi. |
| 9 | Shopping/sightseeing in Moshi and return to home country. |
